Limits
Croppy works inside your browser's memory. These limits keep every run fast and reliable.
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Output size | 8192 px per side and 40 megapixels per image |
| Custom sizes | Whole numbers from 1 to 8192 px |
| Source rendering | 8192 px per side and 40 megapixels per source, at up to 4× its size in Figma |
| Very thin layers | Skipped if longer than 8192:1 |
| Export ZIP | 5,000 images and 1 GB per ZIP |
| Insert into Figma | 500 images per run |
| Images stored by Figma | 4096 px per side (the layer keeps its full size) |
| Free trial | 20 images per run, 10 runs |
Why the limits exist
- Browsers can fail silently and produce blank images when a single image gets too large. The output and source limits stay well inside that.
- A ZIP is assembled in memory before it downloads, so it is capped at 5,000 files and 1 GB.
- Inserting thousands of images would make a Figma file slow, so inserts are capped at 500 per run.
- Figma itself stores image fills at up to 4096 px per side. Use Export ZIP when you need larger files at full resolution.
When you reach a limit
Croppy tells you before or during a run. If one size is too big for one source, only that output is skipped and the rest still run. If a whole run has too many images, the run button stays disabled until you pick fewer sources or sizes.
